Unfortunately I am the type of person that is not to great at fixing things around the house, often if I do attempt to do something I make a bit of a shoddy job of it and it ends up with someone else to fix it properly. One example of this was trying to put child proof latches on all the kitchen cupboards. I am always to lazy to use a measuring tape, or to align anything up properly and tend to use the “it should be ok” method.
Well after installing all the latches for the kitchen cupboards I was faced with the reality that my workmanship was very poor, either the latches were to loose and my baby son could just open them anyway, or they were so tight that not even my wife could get into the cupboards any more!
If only I had known about the DoitYourself.com website at this time, they have a great open and free community with thousands of articles on do-it-yourself type topics. As they say knowledge is power and if I had taken a bit of time to fully look into what I was doing before diving in head first I would have done a much better job.
One of the interesting areas I found on this site was the section informing about the best ways to buy resale homes and some of the pitfalls to watch out for! Certainly a great way to make money however do your homework first.
