Featured Post – Credit Cards

I am often amazed at how fearful some people are at buying things online with their credit cards. They think that someone is going to get hold of their credit card number and go on a wild spending spree of which the poor cardholder will then have to pay for. This however is simply not true, any merchant that sells products online or otherwise is the one that ends up having to prove that the person paying the credit card bill actually did purchase the goods, and if they can’t prove that it was you somehow (like for example your delivery address) then the bank will most of the time simply reverse the charges.

I have purchased many things online with my credit card and never have a problem, however there are some things that you need to be aware of.

Don’t use your credit card in an Internet cafe
This may sound obvious, however you are asking for trouble if you are foolish enough to use your credit card in an Internet cafe, these kind of places are notorious for being home to keyloggers, virus’s and other nasties that can steal your number.

Use a card with a low or no credit limit
You can get special cards that although they operate like a credit card and can be used online, they actually require a positive balance to be used. This is a very effective method of minimizing any of the risks that could be involved in purchasing online with a credit card.

Keep your virus and spyware signatures up to date
This is very important, on your own computer you will want to be very careful about ensuring that the environment you are using to purchase products online is a safe and secure one.

If you are looking at comparing credit cards then you will want to weigh up all available options, and choose carefully the card that best suits your unique requirements.
